Marcio Pereira PhD student in Ethnomusicology at UFBA, Master in Music from the University of New Orleans (U.S), Bachelor of Music from UFBA. Guitarist, guitarist, composer, arranger, researcher, music producer and music teacher, Marcio is born in Salvador and has worked with various groups and artists such as: Raimundo Sodre, Luis Melodia ,Lazzo Matumbe, Grupo Agbeokuta, Felipe Mukenga (Angola), Mamou Ba (Senegal), Banda Cor de Mel, Grupo Kissukilas, Mariene de Castro, Steve Masakowski, Rick Trolsen, Larry Corryell, Curtis Pierre and Casa Samba group and many others. Between 2007 to 2010 and 2016, he performed at festivals and events in several American cities such as: French Quarter Fest (2008 and 2009), and Jazz Fest Heritage (2008, 2009, 2016). In New Orleans he recorded and released the CD “Love ‘S Divine” with singer Michaela Harrison. As a composer he has songs, trails for published movies, arrangements and sheet music. In 2018 he released the “Saravá Jazz Bahia” group and Songbook, funded by the State Government through public notice. He currently works in the production of his solo álbum, produces soundtracks for audiovisual productions and concluding your thesis about Brazilian black music heritage.
